Zhuhai (TDI): Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of the Russian Federation Security Council, attended the Airshow China 2024 in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, on Thursday.
The visit, Shoigu’s first to China since assuming his new role after serving as Russia’s Defence Minister, marks an important engagement in China-Russia relations.
During his tour, Shoigu visited the weaponry hall, which showcases Chinese advancements in military technology, including tanks, armoured vehicles, artillery, drones, and various light weapons.
He then examined developments in the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy at its dedicated booth, receiving briefings on China’s aircraft carrier capabilities and amphibious assault fleet.

This included highlights of the Type 075 amphibious assault ship and the Type 071 dock landing ship.
Shoigu’s visit extended to the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) hall, where he reviewed China’s advancements in aerospace technology, particularly the country’s independently developed fifth-generation fighter jets, the J-20S and J-35A.

Shoigu is in China for the 19th round of the annual China-Russia strategic security consultations, according to China Central Television (CCTV), underscoring the ongoing strategic partnership between the two countries.
