Singapore, 16 February 2024 (TDI): On February 16, 2024, China’s domestically developed C919 airliner arrived to attend the Singapore Airshow.

As Singapore prepares itself to host the prestigious Singapore Airshow at the Changi Exhibition Centre from February 20 to February 25, 2024, CCTV reported that five aircraft, including the C919, will grace the event, with four already on their way to Singapore.

Having completed its maiden commercial flight last May between Shanghai and Beijing, the arrival of the C919 at the Singapore Airshow highlights its burgeoning influence in the global aviation market.

Manufactured by the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), the C919 represents a significant milestone in China’s aviation industry. It positions itself as a direct competitor to established models like the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320.

According to the event’s organizer, Experia, in addition to the C919’s debut, attendees anticipate captivating aerial displays featuring six air forces and two commercial companies.

Moreover, the Indian Air Force’s Sarang helicopter display team is to make its inaugural appearance. Renowned displays by Roulettes & Black Eagles promise excitement for aviation enthusiasts at the event.

In addition to this, the flypast of the United States Air Force’s B-52 Stratofortress on February 22, aims to elevate the event’s international prestige.

Experia’s managing director, Leck Chet Lam, emphasized, “Flying performances are always a key highlight at the Singapore Airshow.

As the public was either given limited or no access in the previous two editions due to safety measures during a pandemic, we anticipate strong interest in the upcoming flying performances.”

Furthermore, spectators will be able to witness the Republic of Singapore Air Force’s integrated aerial display team in action. It features an F-15SG fighter jet and the AH-64D Apache attack helicopter.

The organizers have scheduled the aerial displays to occur daily at 12:30 pm from February 20 to February 23. It aligns with additional displays at 11:30 am and 2:30 pm on February 24 and 25. Attendees are advised to stay updated on schedule changes by visiting the Singapore Airshow website.
