Russian President meets Turkish Counterpart

Sochi, 30 September 2021 (TDI): The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin had a meeting with the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. This meeting took place at the Bocharov Ruchey residence in Sochi, Russia.

Russian President thanked President Erdogan for accepting his invitation. He was delighted that Moscow-Ankara relations continue to develop and are progressing positively. He mentioned trade between the two countries increased by over 55 percent during the first nine months of this year.

President informed his Turkish Counterpart that TurkStream, a gas pipeline system to Turkey and transit deliveries to South European countries, has been launched. It is working well. In the end, the Russian President once again thanked him for his consistent stand on the construction of this gas pipeline system. This pipeline system meets the interests of the Turkish people as well as the Russian people.

Both leaders also discussed their cooperation on the International stage, including in Syria and Libya. The Joint Russian-Turkish Centre is monitoring the ceasefire on the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia. it is working actively. This collaboration is a major guarantee of stability. It will pave the way for further steps towards reconciliation in the region.

President Erdogan reciprocated and thanked him for his invitation. He mentioned specifically that he thanked President Putin for his assistance and support in combating the forest fires in Turkey. President Erdogan mentioned that he is delighted and overwhelmed as Turkish-Russian relations are progressing. Both leaders affirmed their commitment to further strengthen the bilateral ties.
