Singapore, 28 August 2023 (TDI): The 8th meeting of the High-Level Joint Committee between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Singapore was held on August 25 at the prestigious Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore.

The event was graced by the presence of His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and His Excellency Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong.

The meeting began with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong extending a warm welcome to Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and the accompanying delegation.

Prime Minister Lee emphasized the pivotal role these gatherings play in strengthening the bilateral and strategic ties between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Singapore.

Prime Minister Lee expressed his nation’s eagerness to broaden cooperation with Qatar, particularly in the domains of artificial intelligence and the digital economy.

He commended the productive work carried out by the joint committee during its 17-year history, highlighting its contribution to the growth of both nations’ relations.

In response, Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and generous hospitality extended to his delegation by Prime Minister Lee and Singapore.

Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed affirmed that the bilateral relationship serves as a successful model for partnership and outstanding projects.

The two leaders delved into an array of subjects—politics, economics, investment, education, tourism, civil development, joint projects, and artificial intelligence.

Sheikh Ali bin Alwaleed Al-Thani, CEO of the Investment Promotion Agency, delivered an illuminating presentation.

He elaborated on investment opportunities in Qatar, the state’s strategies for open and free investment environments, and collaboration with Singapore.

Sheikh Ali spotlighted the agency’s achievements in creating a world-class business atmosphere, showcasing Qatar’s allure for foreign investments.

The Singaporean side shared insights into smart city infrastructure and artificial intelligence strategies, including ethical and regulatory frameworks for governance.
