Beijing, 21 March 2024 (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the imperative of robust efforts to further energize the central region during a symposium in Changsha, central China’s Hunan Province, on March 20, 2024.
Xi serves as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China’s (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.
Moreover, He urged stakeholders to elevate their endeavors to a higher starting point and to propel the region’s development forward.
The Chinese President highlighted the central region’s pivotal role as a crucial grain production base, energy and raw material base, modern equipment manufacturing base, high-tech industry base, and comprehensive transportation hub.
He called for synergy in promoting high-quality development. Furthermore, he marked a new chapter in advancing Chinese modernization.
Li Qiang, the Chinese premier, Cai Qi, the director of the CPC Central Committee’s general office, and Ding Xuexiang, the vice premier of China and member of the CPC Central Committee’s Standing Committee on Political Bureau, attended the symposium.

Xi acknowledged the region’s progress over the past five years since the previous symposium. However, he also noted the challenges ahead, emphasizing the need for practical research to overcome them.
