Tianjin Ready to Host Leaders of Over 20 countries for SCO Summit

Beijing (TDI): Leaders from more than 20 countries and heads of 10 international organizations will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit this year, being hosted by China in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1.

Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister, Liu Bin, said that this will be the fifth time that China is hosting the Summit, and the largest since the establishment of the organization. He also shared the lists of leaders who have been invited and are expected in Tianjin for the Summit.

The foreign leaders invited to attend the summit include:

  • Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi
  • Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian
  • Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev
  • Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov
  • Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif
  • Russian President Vladimir Putin
  • Tajik President Emomali Rahmon
  • Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev
  • Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh
  • Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev
  • Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan
  • Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet
  • Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu
  • Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli
  • Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan

As the chair of the SCO for 2024-2025, China has turned the experience into a grand effort to forge connectivity, by arranging massive pre-Summit events where students, professionals, and government officials had a chance to actually come together and interact.

A series of events has preceded the Summit and now as the dates draw closer, China hopes to host largest-ever Summit. Being one of the founding members of the organization, China attaches great importance to its vision and goals.
