Islamabad (TDI): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday held a telephone call with Haitham bin Tarik, Sultan of Oman, to convey his warm greetings and best wishes to him as well as the brotherly people of Oman on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Recalling the close fraternal ties between the two nations, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong desire to further strengthen bilateral collaboration with Oman across all spheres.
In this regard, the Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction on the recent successful trip of Commerce Minister to Muscat, which would pave the way for the two sides to explore mutually beneficial avenues for collaboration.
The Prime Minister also reiterated his invitation to the Sultan of Oman and requested him to undertake an official visit to Islamabad at his earliest convenience.
Sultan Haitham bin Tarik warmly reciprocated the Prime Minister’s Eid greetings and conveyed his best wishes for the people of Pakistan.
Pakistan-Oman Ties
Pakistan and Oman have had deep historical, cultural, and economic relations shaped by geographical proximity and people-to-people contacts.
The Pakistani expatriate community makes a significant contribution to Oman’s economy, and there is joint cooperation in trade, defense, and regional security between the two nations.
An enhancement in diplomatic relations is ensured through regular high-level exchanges.
Pakistan-Oman economic cooperation is strengthening, especially in trade, energy, and infrastructure, with Oman being the key outlet for Pakistani exports in the Gulf region, and Pakistan supplying skilled labor and agricultural products.

The two countries are considering investment opportunities in the ports, fisheries, and tourism sectors for furthering bilateral economic engagements.
Defense and security cooperation remain strong elements in the relations between Pakistan and Oman.
Both the countries undertake joint naval exercises, intelligence-sharing, and defense training programs.
