Washington, 15 November 2021 (TDI): On Saturday, The Foreign Minister of Peru expressed Peru’s stance at the 51st General Assembly Summit of the Organization of American States (OAS); held at the American Halls in Washington D.C. Guatemala is chairing the General Assembly.

Oscar Maurtua stressed the importance of multilateralism. He believes in strengthening multilateralism, which will bring people to the center of its action. Moreover, he highlighted the twentieth anniversary of the Inter-American Democratic Charter’s approval.
He stressed the implementation of the Lima Commitment. The Lima Commitment aims to eradicate corruption in the United States of America and America’s region.
The Foreign Minister of Peru called upon the General Assembly of the OAS to strengthen the education system in the region.
He believes that it is a necessity; as a strong education system is the core element of promoting and encouraging the democracy of a state. Furthermore, he confirmed Peru’s stance on Human Rights.
He wants the Organization of American States to further advance the values of Human Rights and Social Justice in the region. The organization of the American States was established to promote human rights, democracy, and business within the region. This organization has been working to bring peace, stability, and security to the American region for centuries now.
The 51st General Assembly Summit was arranged to bring back a spirit of hope within the organization. It will assure the member states that they will be able to stabilize and boost their economy while combating the pandemic.
