Pakistan’s Foreign Office honoring former foreign secretaries

Islamabad, 7 September 2021 (TDI): Spokesperson of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Asim Iftikhar, shared that Foreign Office has initiated the digital series to commemorate the legacies of former foreign secretaries of Pakistan. This is one of the initiatives of Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s Vision Foreign Office, which aims to digitalize the working of the foreign office in order to make it compatible with the needs of the 21st century.

Today in the first part of the series, Foreign Office is paying tribute to the revered former Foreign Secretary of Pakistan, Agha Shahi. He began his career in 1951 and served as a foreign secretary of Pakistan from 1973 to 1977. However, he also held significant diplomatic positions in the US, China, and the UN. And, he died on 6th September 2006.

The Foreign Office also provides a lecture series named after him, Agha Shahi Lecture Series. Academicians, scholars, and former diplomats delivered the lectures to impart knowledge of issues pertinent to the domain of foreign policy.
