Government to ensure minority rights, President Alvi

Islamabad, 7 September 2021 (TDI): On Tuesday, the President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi attended a delegation of ”National Minorities Commission” in Islamabad with Chairman Chela Ram Kewlani heading the delegation.

During the meeting, Chela Ram said that minorities are an important part of the country and have equally engaged in the development of Pakistan. President Alvi, on the other hand, said the government is taking this matter into consideration. Various steps are being taken for the implementation of equal opportunities for minorities.

Alvi added that the provision of protection of rights in Pakistan’s constitution is also taken into account.

Moreover, President Arif Alvi underscored that the government is taking an initiative for protecting and maintaining the areas of worship of minorities including Temples, Gurdwaras, Shrines, and Churches.

While talking about the educational context, Alvi stated that the government has allocated 5% job quotas along with scholarships and financial assistance to students belonging to minority groups. The government has also decided to allocate easy business loans under the category of Kamyab Jawan Program by Imran Khan to youth and women from minority groups.
