Pakistani Embassy In Lisbon Celebrates Independence Day

Lisbon, 20 August 2024 (TDI): The 78th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence was celebrated with a flag-hoisting event at the Pakistani Embassy in Lisbon.

In a ceremony at Lisbon’s Belém Palace, Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Khalid Ejaz gave his Excellency Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the President of Portugal, his credentials as Pakistan’s Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Republic of Portugal.

The national anthems of both countries were played when the ambassador was greeted with a guard of honor.

The flag was hoisted to the accompaniment of the national anthem by Dr. Muhammad Khalid Ejaz, Pakistan’s ambassador to Portugal, in the presence of Pakistani community and Embassy officials.

The audience listened messages from the foreign minister, president, prime minister, and deputy prime minister. Pakistan’s independence was achieved through a freedom struggle that was honored in the speech made by Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Khalid Ejaz.

He stressed to serve the country with the same determination and dedication. The Pakistani community in Portugal has been praised for its role in fostering interpersonal relationships.

As he wrapped up, he emphasized his commitment to uphold the Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s ideal of discipline, unity, and faith.
