Multan (TDI): Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening ties with African countries, with a particular focus on expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.

Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani expressed these views during a meeting with Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Fatou Harerimana, at Gilani House in Multan.

The two sides held detailed discussions on enhancing bilateral cooperation, regional developments, and areas of mutual interest, reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing Pakistan–Rwanda relations at both bilateral and multilateral levels.

Gilani highlighted Pakistan’s growing focus on Africa, noting that Islamabad places special importance on strengthening partnerships with African nations through increased engagement and collaboration. He also announced that a Pakistani delegation is expected to visit Rwanda in the near future.

During the meeting, the Senate chairman introduced the visiting envoy to Multan’s historical and cultural significance, describing it as a city with over 5,000 years of history and a distinct identity as the “City of Saints.” He pointed to its rich Sufi heritage, historic shrines, and internationally recognised blue pottery.
