Jeddah, 3 May 2023 (TDI): At the invitation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the current Chair of the Islamic Summit, and the OIC Executive Committee, the OIC Executive Committee holds an emergency meeting on Wednesday.
The meeting was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Jeddah to discuss the situation in the Republic of Sudan.

The Secretary General of the OIC stressed the need to end violence, respect the inviolability of diplomatic premises, and provide the necessary protection for diplomats.
The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the storming of the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission premises in the Sudanese capital.
The Saudi Cultural attaché office in Khartoum was stormed on Tuesday by an armed group that destroyed equipment and cameras and seized some of the property.
At least 550 people have been killed and more than 4,900 injured in the fighting between the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since 15 April, according to Sudan’s Health Ministry.

The Executive Committee requested all Sudanese brothers to allow dialogue to prevail to preserve the unity of Sudan and state institutions.
The Secretary-General renewed his appeal for a permanent ceasefire in Sudan. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) plans to send a high-level delegation to Sudan for talks on the situation in the conflict-torn country.
The Executive Committee commended significant efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the evacuation of international citizens and hailed the efforts of engagements with Sudanese brothers and regional parties to reach an immediate and lasting ceasefire.
The OIC Executive Committee expressed its deep regret and offered condolences to the Sudanese families of the victims and prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured.
The Secretary General of OIC appealed to states, international institutions, and organizations to provide humanitarian and health assistance to those affected by the difficult conditions in Sudan, including refugees in neighbouring countries and those stranded in border areas.
