Munich, 22 February 2022 (TDI): Jordan Foreign Minister attended alongside worldwide authorities the Munich Security Conference. The 2-day conference started on February 18th and developed a complete and transversal international security agenda.

Along these lines, Ayman Safadi performed a predominant role during discussions on MENA security initiatives and approaches. These in addition to the bilateral meetings developed at the margins of the conference.

Munich Security Conference Sidelines Meetings

For instance, Jordan Foreign Minister joined in a bilateral meeting with the European Commissioner for Home Affairs. They discussed the prospect of strengthening the strategic partnership between the Kingdom and the European Union.

In addition, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, Ayman Safadi met his German counterpart to address bilateral cooperation and its improvement. Also, they both review the last regional and international developments as well as with Kosovo Prime Minister.

Besides that, Jordan Foreign Minister joined in many bilateral meetings to point out the importance of the Middle East. Also, during the reunion with the President of the World Economic Forum, Ayman Safadi emphasized the need to enhance Jordan-Forum partnerships.

Furthermore, the discussions with the many European Member States attending the Munich Security Conference oriented Jordan’s role as a key representing the region. For example, Finland’s Foreign Minister highlighted the relevance to work alongside Jordan within the EU Framework.

Not to mention, the Commissioner for Budget and Administration and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union who established important remarks too. Especially regarding jointly security and financial programs with the EU.

On the other hand, it is important to note that Ayman Safadi met UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Peacekeeping. They, under the Munich Security Conference, discuss Jordan’s lead to resolving crises.

The 5th Munich Group Ministerial Meeting 

Apart from that, the Jordanian Foreign Minister attended the 5th Ministerial within the framework of the Munich Group. He, alongside his French, German and Egyptian counterparts, continued to negotiate the 2-state solution negotiations. The group analyzed the strategy to work on a more realistic approach to conclude the Palestine situation.

Finally, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi thanked Conference attendees for their commitment to their duties. Not to mention the insightful conversations with colleagues and transnational organizations.
