Japan aids Cambodia in building infrastructure

Phnom Penh, 25 December 2021 (TDI): Japanese government has provided aid of US 368,478 $ to Cambodia to build infrastructure in the country. The assistance will help Cambodia to build health as well as roads infrastructure in the country.

Southeast Asian countries will build 4 roads and health infrastructure projects with the help of this money. The assistance came from Japan under the framework, the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects, the “KUSANONE” Grant.

The distribution of aid will provide the US $93,932 of the total amount to the Kep Provincial Department of Public Works and Transport, accordingly. Kep Province will start Road Improvement Project in the Porng Teuk commune, the Damnak Chang-er district of the Province.

While US$92,305 will be provided to the Ratanakiri Provincial Department of Health. The management will start the Sre Angkrong Health Centre Construction Project in the Sre Angkrong commune of Ratanakiri province.

Angkor Hospital for Children will get a grant of US$86,623. The hospital will carry out the Project for Installing Medical Equipment at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.

Moreover, Damnok Toek Organisation will receive US$95,618 from the assistance. They will support the Project for Improving Day Care Centre for Children with Disabilities at Damnok Toek Centre in Prey Veng province.

KUSANONE

The Kusanone project of Japan started in 1991 in Cambodia. The purpose of the project is to support Cambodia’s reconstruction and development accordingly at the grassroots level.

The aid in this regard protects vulnerable communities due to various factors such as poverty and misfortunes that directly threaten their lives, livelihood, and dignity. It also promotes the self-reliance of local communities.

Japan’s aid to Cambodia since 1991 reaches over US$64 million to implement 654 KUSANONE projects throughout Cambodia.
