Cairo, 28 August 2023 (TDI): Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani discussed various areas of bilateral and regional relations with his Egypt counterpart Sameh Shoukry during a phone call.
Both Ministers changed their views on collaboration between Italy and Egypt and felt further need to enhance cooperation in the economic and investment field.
Additionally, they aimed to tackle shared circumstances and obstacles within the Mediterranean region, with a particular focus on the matter of unauthorized sea migration.
Furthermore, the Foreign Minister of Egypt Sameh Shoukry also explained the current situation in Niger to Foreign Minister Tajani and highlighted the diplomatic effort to preserve the security and stability of the region.

Furthermore, Minister Shoukry elaborated on Egypt’s perspective concerning the political and security advancements in Libya. He outlined strategies to back the Libyan processes and resolutions that facilitate the prompt organization of parliamentary and presidential elections.
Moreover, both ministers reached a consensus to maintain their robust discussions in the upcoming phase, with plans to convene during the UN General Assembly sessions in New York this coming September.
Further more, ministers of both Egypt and Italy discussed further consultations on different issues and agreed to meet with each other on the sideline at the United Nations General Assembly meeting that will take place in New York next September.
The Egyptian foreign minister Shoukry also met with the Ambassador Ismail Khairat, Assistant Foreign Minister of consular affairs and other officials for the counsellor sector. The only purpose of this meeting is to advance counsellor services for both residents inside and outside the country.
According to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, the meeting viewed different ways to enhance the counsellor services and make it fast and easy.
Moreover, they reviewed the advancement of electronic platforms to speed the counsellor services. They also look to use modern technology in all counsellor services and strengthen the relationship between the Egyptian diaspora with their homeland.
During the meeting, there was also a thorough discussion about the protocol for issuing visas to foreign individuals. The importance of offering conveniences to applicants while upholding all established regulations and guidelines was strongly underscored.
