Islamabad (TDI): President Asif Ali Zardari hosted a dinner at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday evening to honour delegates attending the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference (ISC).
Welcoming the participants, the President praised the conference for fostering constructive debate and strengthening the spirit of parliamentary diplomacy. “Over the past two days, parliamentarians from across the globe have demonstrated how dialogue and mutual respect can advance peace, development, and stability,” he said.
The President noted that the challenges facing nations today, whether economic, environmental or security-related, require collective action. He said the ISC had created space for genuine discussion, built friendships and opened new avenues of cooperation among parliaments.
President Zardari appreciated the leadership of Senate Chairman and Founding Chairman of the ISC, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, whose initiative had helped shape the conference into an effective platform for inter-parliamentary engagement. He expressed confidence that the ISC would continue to grow as a forum for constructive collaboration and shared progress.

Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, in his remarks, thanked the President for hosting the delegates and commended his continued support for parliamentary diplomacy. He said the ISC had been a historic gathering of parliamentary leaders united by a common vision for peace and development, made successful through the active participation and thoughtful contributions of all delegates.
Chairman Senate noted that the adoption of the Islamabad Communique marked a key outcome of the conference, describing it as a shared blueprint for peace, a framework for security and a pathway to inclusive growth that should guide collective efforts for a fairer and more peaceful world.

The three-day Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference, held from November 10 to 12, brought together speakers, deputy speakers and parliamentary representatives from more than 40 countries to discuss “Peace, Security and Development.”
Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, and federal ministers were also present on the occasion.
