Islamabad (TDI): The Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad held a special event on Thursday to honour individuals strengthening the Ethi-Pakistan ties.
The ceremony celebrated efforts to promote Ethiopia’s economic potential, cultural heritage, and tourism in Pakistan.
Ambassador Dr Jemal Beker, Ethiopia’s Special Envoy to Pakistan, thanked the attendees. He praised their role in fostering the friendship between the two nations.
“This event celebrates champions of the Ethio-Pakistan fraternity and highlights the deep bond between our countries,” he said.

Dr Jemal emphasized the importance of media in shaping public opinion and promoting diplomacy and urged the need for accurate narratives to showcase the history and culture of Ethiopia and Pakistan.
The ambassador also highlighted the challenges of misinformation affecting both nations.
He described Ethiopia as a country of progress, known for green transformation and economic growth under Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed.
Dr Jemal also spoke about the historic ties between the two nations, mentioning Hazrat Bilal Habeshi (RA), a revered Islamic figure, as a symbol of their shared heritage.

The ambassador commended Pakistani media for its efforts in fighting misinformation and promoting positive stories and called for collaboration to build a “better global image for both countries”.
Ethio-Pakistan Ties
He highlighted initiatives like Pakistan’s Look Africa policy and Ethiopia’s strategy to connect Pakistan with Africa. He said these efforts aim to boost trade, cultural exchange, and partnerships.
He mentioned key achievements, including Ethiopian Airlines flights from Karachi, which have been well-received, and delegations exchanged in fields such as trade, health, and education.
Dr Jemal described Ethiopia as a gateway for Pakistan to access Africa’s vast opportunities.
