Dar, Fidan Confer on Palestine, Bilateral Cooperation

Jeddah (TDI): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, on Tuesday on the sidelines of the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers.

Dar commended Fidan for chairing the session and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its “multifaceted cooperation” with Turkiye.

Both sides expressed firm solidarity with the Palestinian people in the wake of Israel’s ongoing aggression.

In addition to his meeting with the Turkish foreign minister, Dar also held discussions with Bangladeshi Adviser on Foreign Affairs Mohammad Touhid Hossain, Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohammad Haji Hasan, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, and senior Saudi officials.

During the OIC session, Dar reiterated Pakistan’s principled stance on the Palestinian issue, calling for an end to Israeli occupation and the creation of an independent Palestinian state. He stressed the need for collective and decisive action by Muslim countries.

According to the Foreign Office, the extraordinary session brought together foreign ministers and senior representatives of member states to devise coordinated responses to Israel’s military campaign in Gaza and its broader plans for full military control over the enclave, as well as its continuing violations of Palestinian rights.
