Kathmandu, 13 August 2021 (TDI): Hou Yanqi, Ambassador of China to Nepal, wrote an article on COVID-19 in a Nepali independent online news portal with the title “Coronavirus could be defeated only with scientific origin-tracing and unity, not its politicization”.
In the article, she supported President Xi Jinping’s statement and said that the only way to defeat the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic is to avoid politicization and continue cooperation.
The Ambassador also highlighted China’s active contribution in “international anti-pandemic cooperation”. She particularly mentioned China’s support for Nepal during the pandemic. China donated 1.8 million jabs of COVID-19 to Nepal and announced 1.6 million more vaccines to be donated. China also sent 4 million doses of vaccines purchased by Kathmandu and will continue to facilitate.
Hou Yanqi called the origin-tracing of COVID-19 a matter of a scientific method and recommended handing over the matter to scientists with global cooperation.
