Washington (TDI): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has lauded US President Donald Trump for his role in preventing numerous conflicts, including facilitating a ceasefire between Pakistan and India in May.
Currently on an official visit to the United States, the army chief engaged with senior American political and military officials as well as members of the Pakistani diaspora, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Addressing the Pakistani-American community, Field Marshal Munir highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic achievements and praised Trump’s leadership for averting wars and opening doors for renewed bilateral ties.
He described overseas Pakistanis as a vital asset, terming their contributions a “brain gain” rather than a brain drain. He emphasized that the younger generation’s ideas and global connections could accelerate Pakistan’s development.

“The prosperity of our nation is closely linked to our global diaspora,” he remarked, also expressing optimism about an upcoming Pakistan-US trade agreement expected to attract foreign investment.
Noting Pakistan’s demographic edge, the COAS pointed out that 64% of the population is under 30 years old. He urged expatriates to leverage their resources and influence to drive investment back home, underscoring that national progress depends on global engagement.
On security matters, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm stance against terrorism and vowed to bring perpetrators to justice. The COAS raised concerns about India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) supporting acts of terrorism, calling it a serious threat and promising a swift response to any aggression from India.
Reiterating Pakistan’s position on Jammu and Kashmir, the army chief described it as an internationally recognized dispute rather than an internal Indian issue, echoing Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s words calling Kashmir Pakistan’s “jugular vein.”
During his visit, the COAS attended the retirement ceremony of US Central Command (Centcom) chief General Michael E. Kurilla in Tampa, as well as the change of command event welcoming Admiral Brad Cooper.
He praised the outgoing commander’s efforts in strengthening military cooperation and expressed confidence in continuing collaboration under new leadership.

He also met with General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, discussing mutual interests and inviting him to visit Pakistan. Additionally, the COAS interacted with defense chiefs from other allied nations.
Speaking to the diaspora, he encouraged optimism about Pakistan’s future and urged them to help attract investment. The community pledged their support for Pakistan’s progress.
This visit follows closely on the heels of the COAS’s high-profile trip to Washington two months ago, during which he met President Trump and senior officials, a move seen as a key step in recalibrating ties between Islamabad and Washington amid cooling US-India relations.
Observers believe these renewed military-to-military contacts could pave the way for broader cooperation, especially in regional security and counterterrorism.
