Beijing, 27 June 2023 (TDI): Today, Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister Li Shangfu met with Vietnamese counterpart Phan Van Giang.
During the meeting, Chinese Defense Minister Li said that China is willing to collaborate with Vietnam in enhancing high-level communication and cooperation between their respective militaries.
The main objective of the collaboration between the two militaries is to improve mechanism building and deepen practical cooperation.
Li added, “China and Vietnam should continue to work hand in hand and closely unite in the new journey of socialism, safeguard the common strategic interests of the two countries, and make positive contributions to regional peace and stability.”
On his part, Phan stated that Vietnam remains committed to advancing comprehensive strategic cooperation with China and elevating the military ties between the two nations to new heights.

In addition, Li has met with the defence force commander of South Africa and the army chief of Thailand in recent weeks, but he has not had discussions with US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin.
