Cairo, 10 August 2021 (TDI): The Chinese Ambassador to Egypt, Liao Liqiang, congratulated the Egyptian nation on winning 6 medals during the 2020 Summer Olympics. The tweet from the embassy said that winning 6 medals during these contests is an achievement for Egypt because it is the highest number of medals secured by Cairo in the Olympic Games ever.
The gold medalist of the game Women’s Kumite +61 kilogram, Feryal Abdelaziz won the gold medal for Egypt after beating her competitor Irina Zaretska (2-0), on 7 August 2021. Another Egyptian, Giana Lofty, secured the bronze medal in the same game.
In the Men’s Pentathlon at Olympics 2020, Ahmed Elgendy came in second place and won a silver medal with 1,477 points. Saif Eissa, another Egyptian, won a bronze medal in the Men’s 80 kg Taekwondo contest. In the women’s 67kg Taekwondo tournament, Hedaya Malak Wahba from Egypt won the bronze medal. The last and 6th medal for Egypt was won by Mohamed Ibrahim El-Sayed in Men’s Greco-Roman 67kg Wrestling held in the Olympics, Tokyo.
