Kabul, 9 August 2021 (TDI): On Sunday, Mohammad Haneef Atmar, the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, met with Reid Douglas Sirrs, Ambassador of Canada to Afghanistan. Both parties highlighted the recent security developments and human rights violations in Afghanistan.
The Afghan Foreign Minister expressed his concern over the Taliban’s escalating violence against the Afghan people. He stated that the UN Security Council’s meetings on Afghanistan are very critical in preventing violence in the country. He also acknowledged Canada’s positive role in the Afghan government’s security plan to prevent Taliban attacks in the provinces.
The Canadian Ambassador also raised concerns about the catastrophic security and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan. He assured Canada’s unwavering support for peace and stability in Afghanistan.
