Speech by the cultural Minister
Anar Karimov emphasized that ICESCO was the first international group to travel to Azerbaijan’s lands freed from Armenian rule.
He further said, unlike some other organizations, ICESCO does not politicize the safeguarding of cultural treasures regardless of religion or national background.
In his remarks, the minister mentioned the Shusha as the cultural center of Azerbaijan. Shusha city, founded in 1752 by Panahali Khan of Karabakh, will turn 270 this year.
Karimov voiced his optimism for the success of the ICESCO nomination for “Shusha – the cultural capital of the Islamic world in 2024.”
The minister was told during the meeting by the leaders of several ICESCO divisions about the collaborative initiatives being carried out with Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani delegation was then given a formal greeting at ICESCO.
The Exhibition and Museum
Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Morocco, Prince Moulay Al-Hassan, visited the Exhibition of International Fair and Museum of the Prophet’s Biography and Islamic Civilization that King Mohammed VI of Morocco specially sponsored.
A specialized team organized public tours and provided in-depth explanations of the Exhibition’s several pavilions and parts.
An organized event is the outcome of the strategic partnership between ICESCO, the Muslim World League (MWL), and the Mohammadi League of Scholars.
Three primary parts made up the Exhibition and Museum. The first part is the MWL-supervised Exhibition and Museum of the Prophet’s Biography and Islamic Civilization, which has various components.
The second element is a Panorama of the Prophet’s Chamber in the First Age, which for the first time in history, depicts the reality of the Prophet PBUH’s life in his chamber and gives a thorough overview of the chamber’s history through imaginative films that make use of cutting-edge 3D video effects.
The Mohammadia League of Scholars in the Kingdom of Morocco is in charge of the third element, an Exhibition on the affiliation of Moroccans to the last Prophet, a symbol of love and loyalty.
Treasures from the Moroccan culture are displayed in this exhibition, which is consisted of ancient manuscripts, paintings and coins, architectural models, decorations and inscriptions, and traditional material.
Azerbaijan and ICESCO relations
Since 1991, Azerbaijan has belonged to ICESCO. These relationships, which date back to 1991, reached a successful growth stage after Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva was appointed as the organization’s Goodwill Ambassador on November 24, 2006.
Mehriban Aliyeva received recognition for her contributions to the advancement of education and intercultural communication.
Azerbaijan works closely with ICESCO, the Islamic Development Bank, the Islamic Conference of Parliamentary Union, and the Islamic Conference of Youth Forum—all entities that are part of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
