Moreover, he briefed the students about how the changing state of affairs in Kabul will impact Islamabad’s relations with Washington and the regional dynamics at large.

Addressing the Afghanistan Crisis

In his remarks, Dr. Asad Majeed Khan urged the international community to make efforts for preventing the humanitarian crisis in Kabul following the Taliban takeover in mid-August. The Ambassador stated that the Government of Pakistan wants secure borders and cordial relations with its neighbors for which Islamabad is making substantial efforts.

In addition, the Pakistani envoy noted that the situation in Afghanistan can only be improved through dialogue and peaceful means. He maintained that Pakistan is providing economic and medical support to the people of Afghanistan since August.

The Pakistani government is also collaborating with international organizations to provide humanitarian assistance to the Afghan community. The ambassador further noted that Islamabad and Washington need to work together to mitigate the political and humanitarian turmoil in Kabul.

Earlier this month, Ambassador Khan also spoke about the situation of Kabul while interacting with the students of Bow High School in New Hampshire. On the subject of US-Pak relations, the official reiterated that both states had different strategic interests in Afghanistan. However, at present, both sides want peace and stability for the region.
