Afghanistan, UAE FMs Discuss Trade Partnership

DUBAI, (TDI): Afghanistan’s interim foreign minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during his visit to the UAE.

According to a statement from the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions centered on bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and regional development.

The statement highlighted plans to initiate technical measures to boost trade between Afghanistan and the UAE, including creating marketing opportunities for Afghan traders.

The Taliban also requested the UAE to simplify visa processes for Afghan citizens, as reported by Amu TV.

UAE’s Commitment to Afghanistan

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement reaffirming its support for a prosperous, stable, and developed Afghanistan.

The National, a UAE-based publication, reported that Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, who also serves as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, hosted Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. The two leaders exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The meeting also explored ways to strengthen cooperation, with an emphasis on supporting reconstruction and development efforts in Afghanistan.

Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, UAE Minister of State, was also present during the talks.
