Budapest, 5 October 2021 (TDI): The 1st meeting of the Kyrgyz-Hungarian Strategic Council was held in Budapest. Kyrgyz Foreign Minister, Ruslan Kazakbaev headed the Kyrgyz delegation. Hungarian Foreign Minister, Peter Szijjarto led the delegation of Hungary.
Kazakbaev expressed gratitude for assistance in opening the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Hungary. He also conveyed a message to visit Kyrgyzstan and take part in the 1st Economic Forum of the EU-CA which will be held in Bishkek on November 5, 2021. Moreover, Hungarian Minister, Szijjarto confirmed his participation in the Forum in Bishkek.
Both parties officially announced the launch of the Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund. The development fund will be implemented in the field of agriculture, tourism, and economy. Also, special attention was paid to the issue of opening direct flights from Budapest to Bishkek soon. It will play a decisive role in people-to-people linkage.
Both sides will mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year. Moreover, they agreed to hold several events dedicated to this date. Also, discussed the current situation in Afghanistan. Kazakbaev noted that Kyrgyzstan will pursue a coordinated policy regarding the situation in Afghanistan. Moreover, both sides agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the future.
