Xi Jinping Holds Talks with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto

Beijing (TDI): On the afternoon of November 9, 2024, President Xi Jinping engaged in discussions with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who was on a state visit to China, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Xi Jinping observed that Prabowo Subianto embarked on his inaugural overseas trip to China immediately following his election as President in March this year, and conducted his first state visit to China upon assuming office.

This underscores the significant importance President Prabowo Subianto places on advancing China-Indonesia relations and illustrates the elevated and strategic character of their bilateral relations.

The commitment to strategic autonomy, mutual trust, reciprocal assistance, equitable cooperation, and fairness encapsulates not only the historical development of China-Indonesia relations over recent decades but also serves as a crucial principle for the enduring and stable advancement of bilateral relations moving forward.

China is prepared to collaborate with the new Indonesian government to enhance previous accomplishments and attain further advancements, foster a community with a shared future that exerts regional and global influence, and continue to compose a new chapter focused on self-improvement.

Xi Jinping emphasized the necessity for both parties to enhance strategic mutual trust at a higher level, augment high-level exchanges and cooperation among governments, legislatures, and sub-national entities, fortify the sharing of governance experiences, and steadfastly support one another.

The two parties must maintain high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, effectively manage the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway, promote collaboration on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Corridor and the “Two Countries, Twin Parks” initiative, enhance partnerships in the digital economy.

China is prepared to collaborate with Indonesia to develop additional projects for the populace’s benefit, enhance exchanges and cooperation in poverty alleviation, healthcare, agriculture, and fisheries, among other sectors, support the training of scientific research personnel and the advancement of vocational education in Indonesia, and implement further facilitation measures to increase personnel exchanges.

Xi Jinping highlighted that this year commemorates the 70th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, while next year will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Bandung Conference.

As prominent developing nations, emerging markets, and significant constituents of the Global South, China and Indonesia ought to collaboratively advocate for Asian values rooted in peace, cooperation, inclusivity, and integration.

China is prepared to collaborate with Indonesia to enhance multilateral strategic coordination, fight unilateralism and protectionism, promote an equitable and orderly multipolar world, foster universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, and collectively uphold regional peace and stability.
Prabowo Subianto stated that China is a formidable nation.

Indonesia and China share a millennium of amicable interactions, and their bilateral relations have sustained a robust trajectory of development.

In light of the present intricate international circumstances, Indonesia aspires to collaborate with China to enhance comprehensive strategic coordination, deepen their partnership, and establish a community with a shared future.

Indonesia is prepared to collaborate with China to advance high-quality Belt and Road initiatives, enhance the “five pillars” cooperation framework, and fortify comprehensive cooperation across industrial chains in infrastructure, energy and mining, healthcare, agriculture, housing, joint maritime development, food security, and poverty alleviation.

Chinese companies are encouraged to invest in Indonesia. Indonesia unequivocally endorses the stance of the Chinese government regarding the Taiwan issue, diligently adheres to the One-China policy, and resolutely backs the Chinese government’s endeavors to maintain territorial integrity and achieve national reunification.

Matters pertaining to Xinjiang are wholly internal issues of China. Indonesia adheres to the concept of non-interference in domestic matters and unequivocally endorses China’s efforts to maintain development and stability in Xinjiang.

Prabowo Subianto expressed gratitude to China for maintaining equity and justice on the Palestinian issue.

Indonesia maintains its independent and non-aligned foreign policy, refraining from joining any military alliances or “small cliques” against other parties, and endorses the three principal global initiatives put forth by President Xi Jinping.

Indonesia is prepared to strengthen communication and collaboration with China within the G20 and other multilateral frameworks to positively safeguard the common interests of the Global South.

Furthermore, Indonesia is also committed to foster a multipolar world, and advance the establishment of a community with a shared future for humanity.

Following the discussions, the two leaders collectively observed the signing of several bilateral cooperation agreements in areas such as cooperative development, blue economy, water conservation, and minerals.
