Pakistan's CJCSC Visits Romania to Boost Defense Cooperation

Bucharest (TDI): Pakistan’s Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, visited Romania at the invitation of General Gheorghiță Vlad, Chief of Defense Staff of Romania.

Upon arrival at the Ministry of Defense Headquarters, General Mirza received a warm and ceremonial welcome, marked by full military honors including a Guard of Honor, reflecting the importance both nations place on their bilateral defense relationship.

During his official engagements, General Mirza met with Romania’s Minister of National Defense, Liviu-Ionuț Moșteanu.

The two leaders held wide-ranging discussions focused on shared interests in regional stability, military collaboration, and avenues for expanding defense relations.

Both sides acknowledged the evolving security dynamics in their respective regions and underscored the importance of strategic cooperation in addressing mutual challenges.

In a separate session, General Mirza engaged in in-depth talks with his Romanian counterpart, General Gheorghiță Vlad.

The discussions centered on enhancing professional military education, boosting collaboration in defense production, and establishing mechanisms for regular strategic consultations.

The two military leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to fostering long-term cooperation aimed at promoting peace and security in South Asia and Eastern Europe.

He highlighted the potential for both countries to benefit from mutual learning and shared experiences, particularly in areas such as training, technology, and joint exercises.

As a gesture of goodwill and continued engagement, the CJCSC extended formal invitations on behalf of Pakistan’s civil and military leadership to Minister Moșteanu and General Vlad to visit Pakistan at their earliest convenience.

The visit by General Sahir Shamshad Mirza signals the growing momentum in Pakistan-Romania defense cooperation and reflects a mutual desire for sustained engagement between the armed forces of the two nations.
