Beijing, 13 March 2023 (TDI): The President of China, Xi Jinping gave a speech during the 14th National People’s Congress‘ first session’s closing meeting on Monday, March 13, 2023.
He emphasized the significance of creating a great modern socialist nation, advancing national renewal, and unwaveringly advancing high-quality development in his speech.
Likewise, an emphasis was laid on putting people first on the new journey, better-coordinating development and security, and advancing “one country, two systems” and national reunification.
According to President Xi, carrying out the people’s trust is both a huge burden and his main source of motivation. He promised to carry out his duties with strict integrity, give it his all & earn the respect of all NPC members and the Chinese people from all ethnic groups.
He also stressed the need of putting the needs of the people first as China embarks on its new path towards becoming a great modern socialist nation and promoting national renewal.
He enunciated that the people are the driving force behind China’s transformation into a superb modern socialist nation.
The Communist Party of China’s leadership must remain unified, the people must manage the nation themselves, and law-based government must be vigorously developed, he said.
On the new voyage of creating a great modern socialist nation and furthering the revitalization of the Chinese people, Xi also underscored the necessity for China to unwaveringly achieve high-quality growth.

In addition, Xi Jinping demanded that the new development philosophy be used fully and authentically on all fronts and that attempts to establish a new pattern of development be accelerated.
He underlined the need to advance integrated urban-rural and regional development, support green and low-carbon economic and social development, accelerate industrial transformation and upgrading along with achieving greater self-reliance and strength in research and technology.
President Xi also underlined the need for improved development and security coordination in his remarks. He highlighted that stability is a requirement for prosperity, while security is the cornerstone of progress.
Xi underlined the need to follow a comprehensive strategy for national security, promote public safety governance, upgrade the social governance system, boost China’s capabilities for preserving national security, and preserve China’s new development pattern with a new security architecture.
A “Great Wall of steel” made up of the people’s armed forces capable of effectively defending national sovereignty, security, and development interests was to be built as part of efforts to modernize the nation’s defense and armed forces on all fronts.
President Xi also accentuated the significance of furthering the goals of “one country, two systems” and national reunification. In this vein, he underscored the requirement to fully, faithfully, and resolutely carry out the “one country, two systems” strategy.
The President of China in his speech also emphasized the need of continuing to support law-based administration in Hong Kong and Macao and helping both special administrative regions strengthen their economies, improve the lives of their citizens, and more fully integrate themselves into the growth of the nation.
Likewise, he underscored upholding the 1992 Consensus and the one-China principle, actively fostering the peaceful growth of cross-Straits relations, fiercely resisting outside intervention and separatist movements calling for “Taiwan independence,” and firmly pursuing the path of national reunification.
Speaking at the concluding session of the first session of the 14th National People’s Congress, the national legislature, Xi stated that China’s development helps the world and that China cannot develop in isolation from the rest of the world.
China will push high-standard opening up, Xi highlighted, adding that China will not only use international markets and resources for its own growth but will also work to enhance global development.
China will actively participate in improving global governance, contribute to the development of an open global economy, and advance the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative.
It will work to add more stability and positive momentum to the world’s peaceful development and promote an international environment that is conducive to China’s development.
