Xi Chairs Key CPC Session to Align Institutions with New Five-Year Plan

Beijing (TDI): Chinese President and General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Xi Jinping on Friday presided over a meeting of the Political Bureau of the Committee.

The session focused on reviewing a report from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau regarding its evaluation of work reports submitted by the leading Party groups of China’s top legislature, central government, top political advisory body, Supreme Court, Supreme Procuratorate, and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.

During the meeting, participants fully acknowledged the achievements of these institutions in 2025 and approved their work plans for 2026. According to the report, the five leading Party groups consistently upheld the authority and centralized leadership of the Party Central Committee. They effectively carried out their responsibilities, contributing to the successful completion of the year’s key objectives and the conclusion of the 14th Five-Year Plan.

The meeting highlighted the Secretariat’s efforts in implementing the decisions and directives of the Party Central Committee, noting its extensive work in fulfilling the assigned tasks and supporting Party governance.

With 2026 marking both the 105th anniversary of the CPC’s founding and the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the Political Bureau emphasized that the five leading Party groups should ensure their work aligns with the strategic economic and social objectives of the new five-year plan and aim to achieve a strong start. The Secretariat was similarly urged to execute its duties with high quality and efficiency.

The meeting also addressed other organizational matters related to Party governance and institutional performance.
