Wang Wenbin on the recent Gwadar attack


Beijing, 23 August 2021 (TDI): On Monday, the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Wenbin condemned the recent terror attack on the motorcade carrying Chinese nationals to the Gwadar expressway project. The suicide attack resulted in the death of 2 children and three injured including a Chinese national.

During a press conference, Wang extended condolences to the families of the dead and urged the authorities in Pakistan to find and punish the perpetrators as soon as possible. He further added that China condemns the attack and will stand by Pakistan to combat the threat of terrorism in the state so that the Chinese workers, institutions, and projects can be protected from any such attacks in the future.

Wang also underlined the efforts by Pakistani authorities who are ensuring security and are treating the injured Chinese workers.’China firmly opposes any force using terrorism for geopolitical gains, and calls on regional countries to work together to eradicate all terrorist organizations, added Wang.

Earlier the Chinese embassy in Pakistan also issued a statement that urged the authorities in Pakistan to increase security for the Chinese workers and to find the perpetrators immediately.
