Karachi, 29 September 2022 (TDI): A special board of the Republic of Uzbekistan’s Air Force delivered a humanitarian shipment from Termez to Karachi.
The aid has been delivered on behalf of the Government of Uzbekistan and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for Central Asia, jointly.
This aid is a gesture of benevolence on Uzbekistan’s part for the people of Pakistan affected by the recent catastrophic floods.
Hans Friedrich Schodder, UNHCR Representative for Central Asia stated that “We strongly appreciate the Government of Uzbekistan’s help in enabling UNHCR to deliver timely humanitarian assistance when it is most required.”
The aid is comprised of housing units to give temporary accommodation for flood victims as well as basic essentials to people whose homes have been devastated by floods.

The humanitarian cargo was received at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi on behalf of the Government of Pakistan by members of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) & the Camp Office of the Pakistani Foreign Ministry in Karachi.
Previously, on September 1, a humanitarian cargo of 40 tonnes was despatched to Islamabad on behalf of Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to assist flood-affected areas in Pakistan.
Ashique Ali, Representative of the Camp Office in Karachi stated “This humanitarian aid is very important for strengthening friendly ties between our peoples. An outstretched helping hand on difficult days is a sign of brotherhood and solidarity.
We express our sincere gratitude to the Leadership and friendly people of Uzbekistan and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees for Central Asia.”
