Islamabad, 14 September 2022 (TDI): USAID Mission Director, Reed Aeschliman and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Elizabeth Horst had a meeting with women professionals & entrepreneurs in Lahore.

In the meeting, they reiterated that women’s empowerment had always been a critical component of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) programs.

Women Empowerment: USAID Efforts

Women empowerment is assured by addressing the unique and intersecting requirements of women and girls, men and boys, in all their variety, in USAID’s humanitarian and developmental work.

Adding to that, this also includes the norms and structures that obstruct ideal outcomes for women. USAID also strives to enhance the lives of people across the world.

Furthermore, it emphasizes that the past results have been more likely to last if gender expectations and disparities are recognized and addressed.

Moreover, women’s empowerment and gender equality have long been priorities for USAID. It concentrates on the global program and strives to develop and institutionalize laws that support the advancement of women and girls.

Apart from this, in order to incorporate gender and develop gender equality goals in USAID’s operations globally, the corporation has an international reach of more than 180 gender advisers.

Moving ahead, points of contact who are integrated into Missions as well as Operating Units across the Agency are added. Additionally, neglected and marginalized communities are all areas where it has a long history of involvement.

These include women’s economic empowerment, gender equity in the fight against climate change, empowering adolescent girls, and engaging men, and boys to confront gender norms.

Moving ahead, USAID ensured that all people must have equal rights, the ability to speak up for themselves, and the freedom from intimidation. Also, harassment, discrimination, and violence for civilizations to flourish have also been a reason.
