Washington, 14 September 2021 (TDI): The spokesperson of the US State Department Ned Price released a statement on 10 September, where he stated that the US welcomes the agreement among Lebanese leaders over the formation of a government.
Spokesperson Ned Price remarked that this agreement provides hope to the people of Lebanon. He also urged the Lebanese parliament to quickly approve the new government so that it can work on the reforms required to address the deteriorating Lebanese economy.
Furthermore, Spokesperson Ned Price also highlighted the US support for Lebanon. He outlined that the US has so far donated $372 Million for humanitarian assistance to Lebanon and that the US stands with the new government.
This agreement among Lebanese leaders marks the end of the caretaker government that came when the previous government quitted following the Beirut explosion. The government formation process has been going on in Beirut for the last thirteen months.
