Chinese Foreign Minister’s visit to Singapore

Singapore, September 13 (TDI): Chinese Minister for Foreign Affairs and State Councilor, Wang Yi met with Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat and also called on Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan as a part of his Asia tour to Singapore. Both China and Singapore promised to enhance their cooperation on a practical basis in different sectors. During this meeting, Mr. Wang Yi said that both China and Singapore have shared mutual trust and understanding in developing their bilateral relations.

Wang asserted that both sides have worked jointly to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and strengthen their bilateral ties. Wang also added that China is inclined to Singapore in enhancing strategic communication, deepening cooperation, overcoming difficulties, winning the war against COVID-19, and for the fast healing of each other’s economy. Balakrishnan said that Singapore and China have always enjoyed an open and friendly relationship and Singapore will always look forward to enhancing its cooperation with China in the trade, digital economy, green development, investment and fight against the pandemic. Singapore’s Foreign Minister also appreciates and thanks China for its provision of COVID-19 vaccines to Singapore.
