Washington D.C., 18 December 2021 (TDI): The United States of America (USA) has donated almost 4.3 million vaccines to Afghanistan. The vaccines were donated on 14 December. It was in accordance with the US commitment to the COVAX mission.
Thomas West, the United States of America’s Special Representative to Afghanistan on Tuesday briefed about the vaccines the USA donated for the health security of the people of Afghanistan.
The United States has offered the people of Afghanistan one million additional COVID-19 vaccine doses through #COVAX, bringing our total to 4.3 million doses and adding to $474M in U.S. humanitarian assistance for Afghanistan this year. We stand with the Afghan people.

The US has been trying to help the people as well as the situation in Afghanistan by providing humanitarian assistance as well. It has collaborated with Pakistan to protect the people of Afghanistan. Both the countries are cooperating to bring stability and peace to Afghanistan and the region of South-East Asia.
Last week the USA donated almost 2.2 million vaccines to Pakistan to complete its National Immunization Program. The USA is donating vaccines to countries around the world, with a mission to vaccinate as many people in the world as it can.
The USA has donated 300 million vaccines worldwide, and it aspires to donate a billion more until 2022. The USA has collaborated with international organizations to commit to the COVAX mission.
COVAX’s mission involves efficient manufacturing of the Covid-19 vaccines. It also ensures that a fair amount of distribution is made among every country in the world. This mission was implemented to protect the world from the virus.
The broader goal of the COVAX mission was to help the weaker states as well to access vaccines and boost health security among its people. Almost 8.47 Billion doses of vaccines have been given to people around the world and almost 3.63 billion people are fully vaccinated.
According to a report by World in Data, a total of 46.6 per cent of people are fully vaccinated around the globe. The US aspires to make it 100 percent soon.
