Addis Ababa, 4 October 2023 (TDI): In a significant diplomatic event, Ambassador Ervin Massinga, newly appointed as the United States (US) Ambassador to Ethiopia, presented his credentials to the President of Ethiopia, Sahle-Work Zewde.
A distinguished career member of the US Senior Foreign Service, Ambassador Massinga brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
Before assuming his position in Ethiopia, he held the prestigious role of the US State Department’s Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of African Affairs.
His extensive experience in African affairs and dedication to diplomacy positioned him well for the challenges and opportunities of fostering strong ties between the United States and Ethiopia.
The presentation of credentials marks the formal initiation of Ambassador Massinga’s role in promoting bilateral relations, trade, and cooperation between the US and Ethiopia.
The occasion highlights the collaborative efforts aimed at fostering peace, prosperity, and development for both nations.
During his swearing-in ceremony in Washington DC on September 27, Ambassador Massinga passionately stated, ‘I pledge my energy, creativity, and unflagging efforts to improving relations between the US and Ethiopia.
I cannot promise perfection, but you’ll have everything I can give.’ He added that ‘He is committed to work not for Ethiopia but for regional cooperation and enhance the relation between the two states by working jointly in every field of life that is in the interest of both states.
This commitment by Ambassador Massinga underscores his determination to strengthen bilateral relations, emphasizing collaborative efforts and proactive engagement.
His dedication to this mission resonated with both the American and Ethiopian communities. The occasion marked the beginning of a new chapter in US-Ethiopian relations.
