New York, 28 February 2023 (TDI): A meeting was held between Acting Deputy Secretary for Management and Resources of the United States (US), John Bass, and United Nations (UN) Under-Secretary-General, Catherine Pollard today.

Both leaders discussed their respective roles and responsibilities in international diplomacy and ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination to achieve common goals.

They discussed priorities for international development, such as improving access to education, health care, and economic opportunities for unprivileged households.

They also explored how to better use technology to advance global cooperation and promote peace and stability.

The two officials further discussed ways to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of international organizations, including through better coordination of resources and improved implementation of strategies.

The importance of strengthening the capacity of UN entities to tackle some of the world’s most intractable challenges was also highlighted.

John Bass and Catherine Pollard agreed to continue their close collaboration in order to make a positive contribution to global peace and development and to promote the UN’s mission of safeguarding the human rights and fundamental freedoms of all people.

In the same vein, both officials explored potential areas for collaboration between the US Department of State and the UN.

Such as working together to address climate change, promote gender equality, eliminate extreme poverty, and protect vulnerable populations around the world.

Deputy Secretary for Management & Resources & UN Under-Secretary-General Catherine Pollard also highlighted the need for more effective and inclusive global governance mechanisms, particularly in the areas of development & humanitarian assistance.

Likewise, they emphasized the importance of open and transparent dialogue between governments and civil society to ensure that all voices are heard in global decision-making processes.

In conclusion, they pledged to continue their efforts in finding solutions to the world’s most pressing issues.
