-

Newyork,14 August 2021 (TDI): United Nations Beach clean-up campaign is to start from 18 August 2021 under the theme “Together to protect marine life”, in collaboration with the UN’s ActNow app, EU and The Smurfs. The European Union Cleanup campaign encourages people across the globe to protect marine life across the world through local clean-up efforts to support Sustainable Development Goal 14 i.e. “Life below water”. “The Smurfs” famous comic book characters are also the partners in this campaign as they have been communicating universal values such as tolerance, courage, respect for nature and environment. Therefore, the involvement of “The Smurfs” is natural in this cleaning campaign of oceans and beaches.
UN’s ActNow campaign is culminating on 18 September 2021. People can take part by simply registering as an individual or creating a team on the ActNow app and log their beach cleaning activities anywhere in the world on the app.
