Dubai (TDI): The United Arab Emirates is closely monitoring the announcement by US President Donald Trump regarding a proposed two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran, and has sought further clarity on the terms of the agreement to ensure full adherence by Iran.
The UAE has stressed the need for an immediate halt to all hostilities and the unrestricted reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) stated that Iranian attacks over the past 40 days, targeting infrastructure, energy installations, and civilian areas, have resulted in significant loss of life and material damage. According to the ministry, these developments call for a firm international stance, including accountability and reparations for the affected parties.
The Ministry emphasized the need for a comprehensive and sustained approach that addresses Iran’s full range of threats, including its nuclear capabilities, ballistic missiles, drones, military capabilities, and affiliated proxies and terrorist groups, while ending threats to freedom of navigation, as well as economic warfare and piracy in the Strait of Hormuz. It expressed hope for achieving sustainable peace for all countries in the region.
