Washington (TDI): US President Donald Trump said in a post on Truth Social that his administration will work closely with Iran following the announcement of a two-week ceasefire facilitated through diplomatic efforts involving Pakistan.
In his statement, Trump described the development as a significant step and suggested that the United States and Iran are moving toward further engagement. He indicated that discussions would continue on several fronts, including sanctions, tariffs, and broader strategic issues. According to his remarks, a number of key points had already been agreed upon, while additional matters remain under negotiation.
Trump also emphasized that the United States would maintain strict oversight of Iran’s nuclear activities, stating that there would be no uranium enrichment and that monitoring would continue through satellite surveillance. He further claimed that sensitive nuclear-related materials would be addressed as part of ongoing coordination between the two sides.
In a separate post, the US president warned that countries supplying military equipment to Iran could face immediate economic penalties, including tariffs on goods exported to the United States. He added that no exemptions would be granted under this policy.

The announcement follows earlier confirmation by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who stated that Iran and the United States, along with their respective allies, had agreed to an immediate ceasefire. He also invited delegations from both countries to Islamabad for further negotiations aimed at reaching a more comprehensive and lasting agreement.
Trump said the ceasefire agreement was reached shortly before a previously set deadline, which had been linked to demands for Iran to reopen key maritime routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, an essential global energy corridor handling a significant portion of the world’s oil shipments.
Iranian officials have also indicated willingness to pause hostilities and ensure safe passage through the waterway, while engaging in broader negotiations.
Trump described the development as a positive step toward global stability, stating that both sides had signaled readiness to move toward peace and that the United States would assist in managing maritime traffic through critical shipping lanes.

The ceasefire comes after weeks of escalating tensions and conflict that have resulted in significant casualties across multiple countries in the region. Previous phases of the conflict included strikes on infrastructure, military installations, and energy facilities, as well as repeated warnings, deadlines, and extensions issued by the US administration.
Observers say the latest developments mark a potential turning point, with diplomatic engagement now taking center stage after a period of heightened military confrontation. Further talks are expected to determine whether the ceasefire can evolve into a longer-term and more stable agreement.
