Washington, January 29, 2025 (TDI): The new Oval Office has taken several executive actions, including rescinding deportation protections that the former administration granted to more than 600,000 Venezuelans already in the United States, the New York Times reported on Tuesday, citing a copy of the decision.
In such a scenario, according to the New York Times, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem canceled a former administration move to give Venezuelans in the US an extra 18 months of deportation relief and access to work permits through the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program.
A Republican president, now in the most powerful office in the world, took on January 20, aiming to crack down on illegal immigration and humanitarian programs he says go beyond the intent of U.S. law.
Meanwhile, President Trump started deporting illegal immigrants who are residing across the US. A day ago, the hundreds of migrants plane landed in Colombia. In this sense, Trump has designed a vision to evacuate the US from unlawful migrants.

In addition, the humanitarian status, namely the TPS, is available to those whose home country faced natural disasters, military conflicts, or other misadventures. In this sense, former President Joe Biden, a Democrat, had expanded this program and now covers more than 1 million people from 17 nations.
The New York Times stated that Noem’s cancellation of the extension requires her to decide by Saturday whether to automatically renew protections expiring in April for six months or cancel them.

However, Donald Trump has taken a hardliner stance on illegal immigration and tariffs on China, India, and other parts of the world. These moves define unilateral decisions taken by the new administration. He called these executive actions “America’s first agenda.”
