Washington (TDI): US President Donald Trump has directed the Pentagon to resume nuclear weapon tests, stating that it is essential for the United States to maintain equal testing capabilities alongside other nuclear powers, especially in light of advancements made by Russia and China.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump made it clear that the Department of Defense should begin the process immediately, citing other nations’ testing programs as a catalyst.

Trump specifically mentioned that Russia is the closest competitor, with China not far behind but expected to catch up within five years.

Russia has been actively expanding its nuclear capabilities, with President Vladimir Putin announcing a successful test of the Poseidon nuclear-powered torpedo, a weapon capable of creating massive radioactive waves to devastate coastal regions. In addition to this, Russia recently conducted a nuclear missile test and drills, underscoring the ongoing global arms race.
