Islamabad, 13 September 2021 (TDI): Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi had a telephonic conversation with Jeppe Kofod, Foreign Minister of Denmark.
The conversation marked the discussion of bilateral relations and the situation in Afghanistan.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi stated that the two countries need to strengthen the bilateral relationship, particularly in trade and economic fields. He acknowledged Denmark’s support for Pakistan in acquiring the GSP plus status. He also emphasized enhancing people-to-people exchanges.
Shah also appraised his Danish counterpart on the evolving dynamics in Afghanistan and the measures taken by Pakistan to promote peace and stability in Afghanistan. Particularly, he informed him about the evacuation operations conducted by Pakistan. He added that overall Pakistan has facilitated the evacuation of 12,000 from 30 countries and international organizations.
Foreign Minister Kofod expressed his gratitude for Pakistan’s role in the successful transit of Danish nationals and personnel from Afghanistan. Shah Mahmood urged the Danish government to reconsider the travel guidelines for Pakistan considering the improved security situation in the country. He also extended an invitation to his Danish counterpart to visit Pakistan.
