Tariq Karim met Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce President

Chicago, 6 October 2021 (TDI): The Consulate General of Pakistan in Chicago, Tariq Karim, joined a virtual meeting today with the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, Jack Lavin. The officials highlighted the need for enhanced commercial and economic cooperation between Pakistan and the American Midwest.

Jack Lavin welcomed Consul General Tariq Karim to the meeting and anticipated bolstering trade and economic relations with Pakistan. Other luminaries participating in the discussion included Senior Vice President of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, Jan Kostner, and co-chair of the Lahore-Chicago Sister-City Committee, Dr. Tariq Butt. Besides highlighting the importance of economic diplomacy in promulgating business, trade, and commerce opportunities in Pakistan, Consul General Tariq Karim also invited the Chicagoland Chamber to play a pivotal role in this regard.

Speaking on the subject matter, Dr. Tariq Butt noted the growing presence of Midwestern companies in Pakistan, thus, facilitating enhanced trade volume between the two sides. The meeting participants exhibited a commitment to taking substantial measures for promoting bilateral trade and business among the two states. Consul General Tariq Karim also highlighted the shift observed in Pakistan’s Government, from geopolitics to geo-economics, which further increases Washington’s scope to economically collaborate with Islamabad.
