Beijing, 20 August 2021 (TDI): The Chinese state-affiliated media CGTN interviewed the Taliban’s spokesperson Suhail Shaheen on Thursday. In the interview, he talked about several aspects including China’s role in the reformation of Afghanistan.
During the interview, when asked about the role of China as a neighbor, Shaheen answered that the Taliban have maintained relations with China. The spokesperson also highlighted the role China can play in the reconstruction of Afghanistan. Suhail mentioned that China is an economically superior and stable country thus it can play a major role in the reconstruction of Afghanistan. He also added that China has been a major player in the Afghan peace process and is invited to participate in the rebuilding process of Afghanistan.
During the interview, the Taliban’s spokesperson Suhail Shaheen also talked about other aspects including the role of international organizations and the role of women in Afghanistan. He urged the international organizations to send funds to the newly established government so that the rehabilitation process can speed up. Talking about Afghan women he added that the Taliban government will allow women to get access to education and also promised not to punish anyone who worked with foreign forces in the past.
