-

Beijing/London, 20 August 2021 (TDI):   Wang Yi, Chinese Foreign Minister, and Dominic Raab, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs and First Secretary of State discussed the situation in Kabul. On Thursday, while pointing out the security concerns, regional peace, and the humanitarian crisis both Foreign Ministers exchanged views on strengthening coordination on the recent changes in Kabul.

Wang Yi shared the conclusion he made after the major changes in Kabul, that Afghan people don’t support the foreign model of governance and don’t want chaos in Afghanistan. Hence, imposing military solutions will not give the world desired result so the world, instead of adopting coercive diplomacy, should guide and support Afghanistan.

Dominic Raab said that  UK agreed and showed its concerns for the humanitarian crisis that Afghanistan is facing. He said that the world should unite on the Refugee issue. He also reviewed the decision of Britain to take in 20,000 refugees from Kabul.

They also discussed other matters such as the Winter Olympics 2022 that is going to be held in Beijing, Origin tracing of COVID-19, and Bilateral cooperation.
