UAE-Philippines path to Space Cooperation

Abu Dhabi, 20 August 2021 (TDI): August 19 marked the 47th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Philippines and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In the photo, Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Hjayceelyn M. Quintana receives a replica of the Al Amal Mars Hope Probe – which UAE sent into orbit on 09 Feb 2021 during the inaugural Philippines-UAE space cooperation meeting on 19 August 2021 – from UAE Space Agency (UAESA) Executive Director Ibrahim Al Qasim. The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA), and United Arab Emirates Space Agency (UAESA) jointly aimed to forge a path of space cooperation, charting a new frontier in Philippine-UAE bilateral relations will be of limitless possibilities.

PhilSA Director-General Dr. Joel Marciano, Jr. and UAESA Executive Director Ibrahim Al Qasim commends the exchange of experiences on the respective space programs between Filipino and Emirati scientists and to work together towards signing an MOU expected in October this year through meeting face-to-face in Dubai to coincide with the 72nd International Astronautical Congress (IAC) that UAE will host. This cooperation will prioritize food security, hazard management, and climate studies.
